As the Shop Assistant, you will play a supporting role in our shop activities, ensuring the shop remains efficient while contributing to the creation of custom tools, robotics, and automation systems. You will handle a variety of tasks, ranging from general shop organization and upkeep to performing parts runs and assisting with painting custom tools. As you grow into the role, you will get the opportunity to learn skills such as basic welding and electrical, giving this position a unique variety of hands‑on challenges and a path for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the physical process of building and assembly, putting together components for custom tools, robotics, and automation systems. Develop and apply basic wiring skills for custom projects. Perform general shop cleaning and organization as needed. Be responsible for property upkeep. Complete part pickups as required by the production schedule. Apply paint finishes to custom-fabricated assemblies. Basic welding skills, preferred, to assist on projects. Offer help wherever it may be needed as a general shop hand. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus. Entry level work experience in mechanical assembly, wiring, and welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and assembly schematics. Basic math skills and proficiency in reading a tape measure. Efficient in the use of hand tools such as drills, measuring devices, electrical meters, etc. Good mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic aptitude. Must be dependable, reliable, and hard‑working with a positive attendance record. Must be detail‑oriented, quality‑focused, and safety‑conscious. Be capable of obtaining welding certifications as required. Ability to manage time effectively to meet schedules and be accountable for reporting per job. Physical Demands
Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed. Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to frequently walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and use a ladder or stool. Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE). We are an equal opportunity employer.
