Technician B – Columbia University Irving Medical Center
Join us as a Technician B in the SNF Center for Precision Psychiatry. The laboratory is seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Technician to contribute to the investigation of psychiatric disorders using mouse models and cutting‑edge scientific techniques. This position supports groundbreaking research into the neural underpinnings of schizophrenia and other major psychiatric disorders.

Hours Per Week: 35
Standard Work Schedule: 9 am‑5 pm
Salary Range: $55,112.05 – $55,112.05
Responsibilities
Perform routine procedures including injections and tissue collection for downstream analyses.
Work closely with investigators to ensure animal cohorts align with experimental timelines and objectives.
Assist with in‑vivo procedures including stereotaxic surgeries, cannulae implantation for drug infusion, and other advanced experimental procedures.
Conduct standard laboratory procedures including Western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, and quantitative PCR analysis.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, cell biology, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven laboratory experience performing standard biomedical techniques.
Prior experience with rodent handling, behavioral analysis, and drug administration.
Interest or hands‑on experience with in‑vivo surgical procedures to enable advanced neuroscience techniques.
Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow experimental protocols.
Eagerness to learn new methodologies and collaborate effectively in a research team.
A keen interest in psychiatric neuroscience.
