Summary Under general supervision, the Heavy-duty Truck Technician inspects, diagnoses, and repairs moderately complex issues associated with diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and construction equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Performs preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specifications
Diagnoses and repairs heavy‑duty vehicle and equipment systems
Orders parts as needed
Responds to road calls
Conducts road and static testing to verify repairs
Takes vehicles to and from outside vendors for repairs and services
Maintains a clean and orderly Fleet Shop
Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Four (4) years experience as a Diesel Engine Technician or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Furnishes own hand tools
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Internal Candidates
Class B CDL driver’s license
EPA Section 609 Certification
ASE T4, T5 & T8 Certifications
External Candidates
Class B CDL driver’s license within 12 months
EPA Section 609 Certification within 6 months
ASE T4, T5 & T8 Certifications within 12 months
