Prestige Maintenance USA provides scalable janitorial and facilities maintenance services using environmentally sustainable solutions. We’re based in Plano, Texas — just north of Dallas — and have more than 3,000 employees nationwide. Job Purpose The Custodian performs assigned custodial tasks related to that particular job location, including general cleaning of restrooms, offices, cafeteria, sales floor, and other areas. Tasks also include buffing, scrubbing, vacuuming, mopping, and operating equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers.
Expectations for satisfactory job performance
Performs all general required tasks as directed by Lead Custodian or Supervisor.
Uses floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning safely according to proper usage and scheduled agreements with the store/customer.
Performs all tasks within proper safety guidelines, company guidelines, and as directed by management.
Follows all company policies and procedures regarding safety, customer service, proper attire, and working conditions such as hours and timekeeping.
Performs assignments according to company schedule and as expected by customer.
Wears uniform at required work sites.
Performs janitorial/custodial tasks based on the defined scope of work and customer requests according to published schedules and within explained guidelines. These tasks often include the following:
Empty wastebaskets and replace liners as needed.
Dust/clean tops of office furniture, desks, and tables.
Vacuum all carpeting.
Spot‑clean soiled areas when needed.
Clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals.
Clean counters, mirrors, and fixtures.
Sweep and damp‑mop floor with disinfectant.
Spot‑clean walls, partitions, and doors.
Refill all restroom dispensers as needed.
Wipe/clean all table tops and chairs.
Wipe/clean vending machines and appliances.
Clean sink and damp‑mop tile floors.
This position may work nights, early morning, weekends, and holidays.
Follows oral and written instructions.
Works effectively individually and with a team.
Attends periodic training and safety meetings.
Education and Certifications Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1–2 years of experience in custodial, janitorial, or cleaning services.
Required Skills
Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and applying finishes on different flooring materials.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes, and of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds.
Experience in cleaning and sanitizing washrooms.
Able to demonstrate importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to an appropriate Supervisor.
Ability to follow directions and work within guidelines.
Must be able to read, understand, and follow units of measure on product labels.
Satisfactory personal appearance and hygiene within company guidelines.
Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Preferred Skills
Ability to maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner according to company guidelines and all regulations.
Essential Functions
Able to read and communicate in English.
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds.
Repetitive motion involved on a daily basis may include, but is not limited to, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, and squatting.
Ability to operate small power tools.Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching into areas not fully air‑conditioned.
Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time to include climbing/descending stairwells and ladders.
Can work independently and in stressful environments.
Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
