General Purpose:
Ensure all quality assembly functions are properly completed in an effective and efficient manner. Coordinate the proper execution of the non-conforming parts procedure. This will include, but is not limited to, ensuring proper handling of all out-of-spec material, keeping accurate & detailed records, and interfacing with other departments.
Shifts(s) Available:
2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM) Monday through Friday
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Performs CMM programming and setup to facilitate production inspections
Ability to educate machine adjusters on interpretation of CMM reports
Reads, interprets, and fully understands engineering drawings/blueprints
Maintain and order necessary equipment for CMM systems, fixtures, and necessary equipment with manager approval
Serve as trainer and mentor to other Zeiss operators
Ensure quality inspections are performed to the standard procedures
Coordinate handling of all non-conforming material in the facility.
Provide leadership and guidance to the quality assembly team
Ensure proper transfer of non-conforming parts in the ERP system
Keep detailed records and report status of the non-conforming material
Coordinate with appropriate departments when product requires a return, rework and/or scrap
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Ability to write and/or modify CMM programs
Working knowledge of the metric system
Ability to use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, inspection gauges and other measuring tools
Knowledge of AX is a plus

Education and/or Experience Preferences:
5 – 8 years of quality inspection experience
8 – 10 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent industry preferred.
Associate level degree in engineer or related field
CMM certificate or 5+ years of CMM operating experience

While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, and bend. The employee will use finger and hands to inspect product. Repetitive lifting of a 1 lb. product is required throughout the shift. The employee is regularly required to lift or lower bins with an average weight of 40 lbs. but could weigh as much as of 70 lbs. Personal safety protective equipment is required.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to filtered humidity and temperature controlled air between 65ºF and 80ºF and sometimes outside weather conditions, which can include sunshine, rain, sleet and snow, high or low temperature and humidity. Standing and walking back and forth from office to warehouses and other buildings. The employee is regularly required to work in a laboratory environment with inspection equipment and work regularly scheduled shifts within our hours of operation.
