Job Overview
Are you passionate about equestrian sports and have a knack for leadership? We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Equestrian Coach to lead our intercollegiate equestrian program to new heights. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and develop student-athletes, specifically Jumping Seat
Recruitment of prospective student-athletes
Administrative and public relations responsibilities
Supervise assigned personnel associated with program
Oversee management of the horse herd
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree completed by date of application
At least three years of collegiate coaching, riding, instructor or NCEA experience – an equivalent combination will be considered
Knowledge of and experience in recruitment of student-athletes, supervision of staff, and budget management
Knowledge of and/or experience in providing care for competition horses
Commitment to promote an atmosphere of compliance and adherence to institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations
Commitment to achieving high graduation rates
Demonstrated fundraising, promotion and public relations experience
Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Proven career path; and
Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Knowledge of Western and Jumping Seat disciplines
Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations
Division I collegiate coaching experience
Head coach experience
