Instructor, English Chaffey College is seeking a full‑time, tenure‑track English instructor for the Arts, Communications, and Design Academic & Career Community, located on the Rancho campus with potential assignments at Chino and Fontana. The role provides a full professional service week throughout the 176‑day academic calendar.

Salary: $81,908 – $119,043 (annual). Closing date: 1/22/2026 11:59 PM Pacific.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction (counseling) consistent with district standards.

Develop and maintain culturally‑sensitive and equity‑minded learning environments.

Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.

Offer instruction and support in online, in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, accelerated, etc.

Maintain current discipline knowledge and use innovative teaching methods.

Uphold professional and ethical standards.

Use effective educational techniques to promote learning and achievement.

Participate in departmental, school, and community meetings, curriculum design, assessment, outreach, success center activities, website development, team‑advisor roles, program review, and other duties beneficial to students and the college.

Encourage student development of critical thinking, collaboration, and empathy.

Engage in professional development, seminars, mentoring, club advising, committees, academic senate, and community engagement.

Work day, evening, or weekend sessions at any campus as required.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition OR

Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a Master’s degree in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism; OR

Valid lifetime California Community College credential authorizing service as an English instructor; OR

Equivalent credentials (equivalency information available in the application); AND

Evidence of sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community‑college environment.

Desirable Qualifications

Two years of recent teaching experience in a related discipline.

Experience teaching online, in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, fast‑track, accelerated formats.

Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive instruction, multifaceted perspectives, and holistic, equity‑based efforts.

Evidence of supporting students across all academic pathways.

Experience with student populations listed in the Equity Plan.

Experience using ZTC/OER or willingness to do so.

Experience with Dual Enrollment teaching and students.

Experience working in a Writing/Success Center.

Expertise in Canvas (or equivalent LMS) and familiarity with emerging educational technologies.

Additional Information Conditions of Employment: Initial salary placement ranges from $81,908 (minimum qualifications) to $119,043 (doctorate), based on verification of experience and coursework.

Essential functions include on‑site work at any Chaffey facility and in‑person engagement with students, staff, and partners.
