Utility Person – Martin Marietta
Role Overview
We are seeking a Utility Person to join our team. This individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated, and will perform cross‑functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under guidance of the plant manager.
Perform daily pre/post shift inspections and maintain maintenance logs.
Use hand shovel and operate skid‑steer, front‑end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and maintain roadways and parking areas.
Operate water truck to limit airborne dust.
Participate in plant operations: production, loading, shipping, and quality control.
Maintain good housekeeping and safe traffic flow.
Operate plant‑specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks safely.
Operate automated scale and relevant software to generate customer tickets.
Administer site‑specific training to visitors and enforce site guidelines.
Direct customers to appropriate areas of the site.
Maintain accurate records of aggregate tonnage & sales activities and prepare basic reports.
Communicate with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needs.
Answer customer calls and communicate pricing, product descriptions, and availability.
Maintain professionalism in all workplace and customer interactions.
Aider in training co‑workers as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience in the building materials industry (preferred).
Location & Hours Kent Sand and Gravel, Massey, MD Hours: 6 AM – 3 PM, weekends as necessary
