Position Overview
Shields Point LLC seeks Part‑Time Armed Security Guards for the U.S. Department of Transportation contract located at U.S. DOT HQ in Washington, DC. Responsibilities
Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned locations, providing for the security and safety of client property, visitors, and personnel. Oversee access control, visitor processing, screening, patrols, preserve order, enforce regulations, respond to alarms, check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unsecured locations, security violations and emergency responses, maintaining a secure environment for employees and visitors. Monitor entrances and exits and act to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry. Protect evidence or scenes of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations. Follow established procedures and policies, enforce client/company rules, policies, and regulations, and prohibit personal cellular devices or eating while on post. Be responsive in all situations. Perform essential functions may include long periods of walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to 12 hours per shift, either indoors or outdoors during daytime or nighttime without reasonable accommodations. Outdoor posts may require the ability to withstand extreme weather for up to four hours without shelter. Prepare logs or reports as requested. Analyze and produce courses of action reporting and escalate issues to management in typical and crisis situations. Provide professional customer service. Possess and maintain all necessary permits, CPR and first aid certifications, credentials, etc., as required by the contract or by local or state law. Excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communications, including legible report writing. Work independently or as part of a small group to resolve urgent issues, process orientation with high attention to detail and triage a problem quickly providing precise/clear information while working under minimum supervision. Use computers and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), monitor security cameras, and send and receive email using MS Outlook. Required Qualifications and Experience
U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States. Minimum 21 years of age. Maintain an active Public Trust Tier 2 Security Clearance. High School diploma or GED or equivalent education. Meet one of the following: two years in United States Armed Services or two years of experience in Armed Security and with Military experience, Associate’s Degree or higher, completed police officer basic academy, or three years of experience as an Armed Security Guard. Successfully complete all training, medical exams, physical ability tests, and drug screenings when required. Maintain the requirements of the Lautenberg Amendment. Fluent in speaking, reading, comprehending, and writing English; a standardized literacy test will be administered prior to employment. Possession of a social security card. Previous law enforcement, security guard experience. Firearms/gun/OC/baton/security guard basic training/screener training NWDTP certifications. CPR/First Aid/AED. Benefits
