Camp Host Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children’s museum and IMAX Theatre located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Marbles has been sparking imagination, discovery, and learning through play since opening its doors in 2007. Marbles serves a diverse population of families, school groups, and community organizations through award‑winning play‑based exhibits, summer camps, IMAX documentaries, feature movies, and special events year‑round. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger‑than‑life movies.

Camp Marbles is a playful, fun, creative and original summer camp. Camp Marbles offers weekly themed camps with museum exhibit visits and active outdoor play for 3–9‑year‑olds. Campers explore engaging activities with a fun mix of hands‑on play, crafts, and games. Summer camp begins June 1st and ends on August 28th of 2026.

The Opportunity Make a real difference in a child’s life! Marbles is hiring playful, engaging, energetic individuals to serve as Camp Hosts for the summer! The hosts will lead camp activities and supervise museum play while engaging campers in impactful play experiences within our exhibits, specialty themed camps, and IMAX movies. Hosts will encourage the campers to build meaningful relationships that provide remarkable and memorable camp experiences.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operation of an assigned camp group including before and aftercare.

Lead and assist with the planned activities including arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies.

Focus on the safety and well‑being of campers during each activity; teach participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures.

Greet new arrivals and introduce them to other campers; explain camp and facility rules.

Facilitate engaging, hands‑on, play‑based learning experiences that foster relationships among campers.

Perform the camp opening and closing duties.

Assist with carpool duty to ensure an efficient and safe experience.

Communicate with caregivers; report camper complaints to leadership and work to resolve issues.

Serve premade meals or packed lunches ensuring allergy provisions are followed.

Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Shift supervision and training for Teen Play Corp volunteers.

Experience and Skill Requirements

1 year of experience in direct childcare (preferred).

Prior camp or equivalent experience is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

First Aid and CPR certification a plus.

Experience working with neurodivergent children is a plus.

Physical Demands

Walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.

Moving equipment, pushing/pulling carts, carrying items.

Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Schedule Availability

Marbles Camp Hosts must be available to work a minimum of 7 full weeks Junethrough August.

Half‑day and full day shifts available

Half‑day: Monday‑Friday 8:30 AM‑1:30 PM

Full day: Monday‑Friday 8:30 AM‑4:30 PM

Before Care, Break Coverage, and After care opportunities are available.

Mandatory training for Camp Hosts will be held on Friday evening May 29th and all‑day Saturday, May 30th.

Year‑round opportunities are available in camp and guest experience roles.

Work Environment

Exposure to a noisy and crowded atmosphere.

May need to walk between two buildings with some outdoor exposure.
