The College of Southern Nevada invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position in Environmental Science, beginning in August 2026. Candidates must hold an M.S. in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
Position Summary The College’s standard teaching load includes five courses per semester, along with departmental responsibilities, student advising, and college service. Candidates are expected to teach lower and upper division courses and labs in earth science, geology, environmental science, geology senior capstone, principles of stratigraphy and sedimentation, field geology, and other specialized courses in bachelor’s degree programs.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver undergraduate courses and labs.
Guide students in research projects and independent studies.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and curriculum development.
Fulfill departmental and college service duties.
Ideal Candidates Will Possess
Experience teaching at the college or university level.
A willingness and aptitude for active learning.
Experience teaching laboratory and/or field‑based courses.
A desire to collaborate with undergraduate students on research projects.
Ability to initiate and supervise interdisciplinary, applied projects and research.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Geology, or a closely related field.
Two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in a related field.
Experience in teaching Natural Resource Science courses and Sedimentation and Stratigraphy at the third and fourth‑year levels.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience mentoring students in senior‑level research courses.
Experience teaching and/or working with diverse student and staff populations.
Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management.
Demonstrated professional development activities within your field outside the classroom.

Starting Salary Information Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full‑time equivalent teaching experience. For a master’s degree holder the salary range is $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The maximum range is $89,166 for a doctoral holder with 10 years’ experience. Salary placement considers up to 10 years of experience.
