Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU Community Care is a nonprofit healthcare organization serving Boulder, Denver, and surrounding counties. With a mission to affirm life at every step of the journey with illness and loss, TRU provides a continuum of care through TRU Hospice, TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), TRU Palliative Care, TRU Grief Services, and Landmark Memory Care.
Title:
Volunteer Coordinator (Temp)
Schedule:
20 hours/week within Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm
Duration:
Temporary assignment, with an approximate start date of February 16th and lasting for 3 months.
Location:
Hybrid. South Denver and Louisville.
Pay:
$22.88 to $28.61 per hour
Education & Requirements
Must have experience recruiting volunteer staff (This position will be in the community, finding hospice volunteers)
Two years’ experience supervising or working with volunteers
Experience working or volunteering in a health care environment preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral sciences, human services or related field
Essential Duties
Recruits and interviews potential volunteers
Assists with planning and organizing volunteer hospice training multiple times per year.
Plans and conducts ongoing volunteer continuing education, monthly volunteer support meetings and volunteer recognition events.
Creates and maintains volunteer files and related computer databases.
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings for coordination of patient care, exchange of information and problem solving, and to identify opportunities to provide volunteer support to patients and families.
Processes and fills volunteer requests in a timely fashion, communicates with team members regarding status of request, and updates patient’s care plan with frequency of volunteer visits.
Maintains on-going communication with volunteers regarding patient deaths, changes in assignments, etc.
Conducts annual volunteer evaluations; monitors feedback regarding suggestions to improve services and support to volunteers and makes recommendations.
Ensures volunteers are compliant with all regulatory requirements (i.e. TB testing, motor vehicle checks, etc.).
Provides direct supervision and feedback to volunteers, monitors and evaluates volunteers’ performance, and evaluates the effectiveness, quantity, and quality of services provided by the volunteers.
Assists with review, design and updates of volunteer brochures, forms, policies and procedures (including training manual), as needed.
