We are seeking an experienced secondary mathematics teacher for the State Distance Learning Program. Candidates must be fluent in the Hawaiian language and reside in Hawaii.
Minimum Qualifications Valid Hawaiian Immersion license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board. A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, the applicant has up to 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a State‑approved program to continue employment.
Preferred Qualifications Fluent in the Hawaiian language; valid Hawaiian Immersion license.
Desired Knowledge Fluent in the Hawaiian language.

Compensation: 10‑month teachers are compensated according to the Bargaining Unit 05 10‑month salary schedule.
18 Days of Paid Sick Leave and State/Federal Holidays: 10‑month teachers receive 18 days of paid sick leave (of which 6 can be used for professional development) during the school year, provided all conditions under the collective bargaining agreement are met.

Group Life Insurance: The State provides a free life insurance policy for employees and retirees.
Premium Conversion Plan: Participating employees may increase take‑home pay by having the State deduct health‑care premiums before payroll taxes.

Retirement Plan: The State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees. Employees with at least ten years of credited service and who have reached 62 years of age (or 30 years of credited service and age 55) may retire and receive benefits. Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA): Eligible employees may participate in a tax shelter annuity program allowing pre‑tax contributions to a selected investment provider.
