Overview Chart's QA NDE team is a key component in our ability to ensure we uphold both code and customer requirements to enable us in delivering the highest quality product. This position will be responsible to carry out code and/or customer required non-destructive examinations and testing. This includes both the application of the method as well as interpretation of the resulting data and filing a formal report on the results. Examination methods can include RT, UT, PAUT, LPT, MT, and VT, depending on qualifications. This is a 2nd shift position.

What Will You Do?

Conducts penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic or magnetic particle inspection when necessary and in a timely manner. Perform other NDE or destructive testing as required

Test parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.

Accurately record and communicate the examination results where required.

Participate in the development of new methods or techniques whether it is for a customer specific project or for broader application.

Understand and comply with all Code requirements as well as customer specific requirements.

Report any incidents where our compliance could be in jeopardy.

Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.

Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require

Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. and occasionally heavier (50-60 lbs.) with assistance

Frequent sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, walking and occasional crawling

Frequent pushing, pulling and handling of materials

Occasional climbing and working at elevated positions

Exposure to metal cutting, welding odors, welding flash and incidental acceptable limits of x-ray radiation and dark room chemicals

Possible exposure to manufacturing chemical odors and temperature extremes

Exposure to overhead objects and occasional flying debris

Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection and hard hat

Your Experience Should Be

Certification in RT Level II or UT level II is required.

Additional certification in LPT Level II, MT Level II or AWS-CWI is preferred.

1-3 years’ experience in one or more methods of NDE work.

Basic understanding and experience with Code compliance, preferably ASME.

Knowledge of QMS and adherence preferably ISO 9001.

Familiar with other NDE and destructive test methods such as PCT, BLT, Tensile, and Charpy impact.

Computer skills, web browser.

Education

High school diploma or GED required

Bachelor's or Technical degree in NDE or related field is preferable

Technical training in RT and or UT required
