Become a Companion for an Older Adult!
Porchlight Friends companions assist older adults with projects in the home, light housework, and transportation for doctor appointments and errands. Clients enjoy easy connection to family and friends, and community services through the Porchlight Health platform. Our companions provide face‑to‑face interactions lasting two hours to help battle the loneliness and isolation felt by many of our older loved ones.
The Porchlight Health platform combines technology with in‑person support to ensure even the most digitally challenged adults stay connected. It is secure, easy to use, and offers one‑touch connections for video chats, phone calls, and texting with friends and family across the country.
Companion visits last two hours and include respite care for caregivers so that those caring for an older adult can enjoy some time for themselves.
Responsibilities
Assist with projects in the home and light housework.
Provide transportation to errands, store, bank, pharmacy, and doctor appointments.
Use the Porchlight Health platform to connect clients with family, friends, and community services.
Offer face‑to‑face interactions to reduce loneliness and isolation.
Provide respite care for family caregivers.
Qualifications
Compassionate and patient demeanor.
Good communication skills.
Ability to support older adults in a home setting.
