Pay: $14.88 - $15.38 per hour
Reports to: Colorscape Supervisor

Job Summary Under general supervision, responsibilities include designing and preparing seasonal landscape plantings, installing plants in annual flower beds, and maintaining decorative containers and hanging baskets. Assist in the care of greenhouse maintenance and plant production.
Responsibilities
Bed preparation: Prepare annual beds for planting by weeding, tilling soil to a 6‑inch depth, and adding soil amendments and fertilizers as specified.
Planting: Install annuals, perennials, and bulbs according to design plans, ensuring proper spacing and planting depth.
Watering: Perform daily watering of flower beds and container arrangements to ensure adequate moisture for plant health.
Weeding: Manually or mechanically remove weeds from beds and containers to prevent nutrient and water competition.
Pruning and deadheading: Pinch off wilted or spent flowers to encourage new blooms and maintain a tidy appearance.
Mulching: Apply mulch to annual beds to retain soil moisture and control weeds.
Fertilizing: Apply fertilizers and other chemicals at the correct rates to promote plant growth.
Greenhouse: Maintain greenhouse and assist in plant production.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in landscape preferred. Willing to train the right person that loves plants and is looking to start a career in Horticulture.
Will consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
Ability to work well with others and contribute to the team.
Must be self‑motivated and reliable.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Willingness to learn unfamiliar but essential job functions.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must possess a valid standard driver's license.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality required.
At least one (1) year experience in planting and maintaining annual flower beds, other seasonal landscape plantings, and greenhouse plant production (Gardener II minimum).
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent standing and reaching, including lifting hands and arms above the head.
Between 25 and 50% of the day spent walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching and using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Less than 25% of the day is spent crawling.
Must have visual clarity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned as well as make general observations of facilities and structures.
Required to perform work both inside and outside; exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well as occasional extreme cold.
Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and chemicals.
May be subjected to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, or poor ventilation.
Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
