Server – Part Time
Responsible to Exec. Chef /Sous Chef and/or Dining Room Manager.
Job Objective: Ensure that all guests are served to community standards in the dining areas. Highest standards of hospitality and welcome are demonstrated and displayed at all times within all dining service areas. Takes orders for, serves (where applicable, prepares) food and beverages to all residents and guests as per the standards in a friendly, timely and efficient manner under the direct supervision of the Dining Room Manager.
Schedule
Open availability is a must – not set days
Part‑Time
3:30pm-7:30pm, Monday–Saturday
9:30am-3:30pm, Sunday and Holidays
Must be available on weekends
Job Responsibilities And Duties
Greets residents and guests and presents them with the menu.
Informs guests about the special items for the day and menu changes, if any.
Takes food and beverage orders from residents/guests on the order‑taking pads or on the handheld POS system.
Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
Fills in for absent staff as needed.
Punches the order on the POS machine and makes sure to enter the special requirements made by the resident/guest while ordering the food (e.g., no garlic, less spicy, without egg, etc.).
Communicates to the guest and provides assistance with their queries.
Coordinates with the bus person and/or kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and resident/guest satisfaction.
Serves food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order.
Observes residents/guests and ensures their satisfaction with the food and service.
Responds promptly to resident/guest with any additional request.
Maintains proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
Adheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
Has some familiarity with basic cooking skills (e.g., salad preparation, dessert plating, etc.).
Assists bus persons with stocking and maintains the restaurant par stock levels and side station.
Helps other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions for take‑out.
Closes the shift on the POS terminal.
Other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous serving experience preferred.
Excellent oral communication skills required.
Positive interpersonal skills required.
