Description Custodians perform custodial responsibilities such as general cleaning, trash removal, light floor care, and special events/room set ups.
Key Responsibilities
Cleans assigned areas including furniture, telephones, fixtures, walls, windows, window sills, blinds, and vents.
Cleans walkways, steps, and mats.
Cleans floors with vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop.
Uses appropriate cleaning solutions for assigned tasks.
Sets up for events by arranging chairs, tables, podiums or other furnishings based on a design layout.
Maintains adequate supplies in bathrooms and supply closets.
Collects and removes trash and recyclables.
May dispose of hazardous waste. Adheres to all safety regulations and PPE requirements.
May drive fleet vehicles and be responsible for the daily inspections and safe operations.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to understand and follow communicated instructions.
Native‑level proficiency in English.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist.
Able to walk up to 2 miles per day.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in‑person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
