Job Summary

The Patient Resource Specialist will serve as part of the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Care Clinic multidisciplinary team to identify and remove barriers to care for individuals participating in grant programming at the BCC.

Primary Responsibilities

Determine patient eligibility for various programs and enroll patients. Ensure patients understand the programs, their responsibilities, and insurance/program coverage plans. Become a KYnector within 6 months of hire. Assist patients with grant enrollment, Medicaid/Insurance enrollment, and provide guidance with financial assistance programs. Advocate for billing issue resolution. Maintain accurate and timely coverage information in all databases/computer systems. Coordinate benefits, verify that Ryan White Grants are payor of last resort. Collaborate with patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, social workers, and other clinic staff to determine and execute appropriate fiscal solutions. Provide analytical and operational support for related patient financial services, including billing and payment processes, process improvement strategies, federal/state assistance application processes, financial assistance applications, and research or grant enrollment.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

MS Windows (Word, Excel, Access or other database experience), Outlook, TEAMS, Epic.

Preferred Education/Experience

Equivalencies accepted for relevant healthcare financial assistance experience.
