Overview Leidos is hiring licensed behavioral health professionals to join the Child and Youth Behavioral, Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) team at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The role supports U.S. military service members and families during life adjustments.

Responsibilities

Work at Child Development Centers (CDC) with children 0-5 and youth in after‑school and school‑age programs.

Observe, participate and engage in activities with children and youth; provide coaching, guidance and support to staff and parents; model behavior management techniques.

Offer presentations to address social skills development and social‑emotional learning critical for early childhood development.

Promote creativity and positivity through approved materials.

Build rapport with parents and families by attending installation and community events.

Help children with transition adjustments, such as a new school and a new home.

Participate in regular in‑service training or other contract activities as assigned.

Communicate information regarding trends and issues at the assigned installation to Team Leads.

Additional Duties

Respond to emergent situations at any physical location on a military installation.

Traverse long distances to indoor and outdoor locations, work in rugged environments and weather.

Travel to locations outside a military base in a variety of physical environments.

Comply with site‑specific requirements to work at designated locations.

Environment During the direction of the Department of Defense duties are performed in multiple indoor locations (≈60%) and outdoor locations (≈40%). Activities include sitting on the floor to interact with children for up to 2 hours at a time.

Licensure Portability Under the NDAA licensed MFLC counselors may provide non‑medical counseling services to military families at any U.S. location regardless of state of license. Counselors may hold any independent and clinical license recognized by the Secretary of Defense.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree or higher in Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).

Valid independent license in the mental health field from any U.S. state or territory (LCSW, MHC, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist).

U.S. citizen.

Basic background check for employment, Child National Agency Check, and NACI/CNACI clearance (Public Trust).

Pay Range $59,150.00 – $106,925.00.
