Job Summary
Enrolling and completing Level 1 Paragon training to prepare for a career in grooming and bathing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Work scheduled shifts with varied hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Support selling initiatives (TEAM): Thank the Customer, engage with customer and pet, advise products or services, make it memorable.
Enroll and complete Paragon Level 1 training within five weeks.
Perform safe pet handling, bathing, drying, brushing, combing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, preparatory hair trimming, clipper and finishing techniques.
Provide customer service skills, demonstrate professionalism, handle equipment and maintain sanitation.
Inspect animals for parasites, disease, or injury and report findings.
Sanitize and maintain tools to prevent injury and disease spread.
Assist in generating business by calling existing or new customers, scheduling appointments, following up with calls and reminders, and verifying vaccinations.
Maintain pet client records.
Operate computer as needed.
Complete all documentation associated with duties.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Comfortable working with dogs and cats; patient and compassionate.
Must provide own tools or be willing to purchase required tools.
High school diploma or equivalent required; any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Associates must be able to read, write and count accurately.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Operate grooming tools including bathing tubs, brushes, combs, scissors, clippers, dryers, and bathing products.
Communicate effectively with associates and customers.
Display compassion with animals and treat them accordingly.
Exhibit attention to detail.
Read, write and count to accurately complete documentation.
Problem solving skills.
Basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
Working Conditions
Moderate noise indoors.
Exposure to sharp instruments, perfumed shampoos, soaps, pets, and pet waste.
Exposure to wet conditions when bathing dogs.
Exposure to cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
Work shifts generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours.
Promote safe and productive work environment.
Indoor floors and outdoor lots hard surfaces; lighting and temperature adequate.
Physical Requirements
Move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise up to 50 pounds.
Stand and maintain a stationary position up to 8 hours while grooming animals.
Move 4‑8 hours per day around salon to groom animals, clean, and maintain salon.
Utilize grooming instruments, occasionally lift or reach overhead.
Bend, kneel, and squat frequently to groom animals, clean shelves, and stock merchandise.
Operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
Read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation.
Use strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
This position is non‑sedentary. Essential to operate equipment safely and accurately to provide highest level of customer service.
