Job Summary Safely operates a heavy‑duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate vehicle in accordance with OSHA, DOT and all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations for the Fleet; maintain a clean and safe vehicle.
Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections using standard DVIR; note all issues on the DVIR form for corrective review/repair.
Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Operations Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
Participate and cooperate in all scheduled training, briefings and meetings as required by Operations Manager.
Work closely with Operations Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
Perform all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage.
Notify Dispatch or Operations Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick‑ups or problem arising on the route.
Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
Complete and submit customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
Position containers on the customer’s property to ensure lids are properly replaced, containers are set upright and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
Follow route assignments throughout the day and complete all documentation when checking‑in at the end of the route.
Qualifications
Education: None required.
Experience: No prior work experience required.
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: Commercial Driver’s License B (CDL). Applicant must be 18 years of age.
Successfully complete pre‑employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check including previous employment check and motor vehicle record review.
Acceptable driving record required.
