Job Purpose
Responsible for all duties in relation to safely providing for the resident’s care and well-being. It requires a responsible demeanor to give the resident population confidence in the ability to provide for their needs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with all of the care needs a resident might require including toileting, ambulation, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, escorting, and transferring from place to place.
Understand the resident alert status and report any changes immediately.
Follow the resident’s interim service plan as care needs change.
Assist with dining room duties during meal times: setup, take orders, serve, and clean after each meal period.
Assist with activities, help residents attend scheduled activities, and prepare residents for scheduled appointments.
Deliver and re‑stock residents’ incontinent supplies, wash, dry, fold and return laundry to appropriate residents.
Collect and dispose of trash in designated receptacles.
Assist with equipment such as gait belt, sit‑to‑stand lift, transfer board, oxygen equipment, catheter, specimen, transfer pole, trapeze, wheelchair, scale, etc. as directed.
Take accurate vital signs and weights.
Perform assigned housekeeping duties: dusting, vacuuming, polishing, wiping down handrails, chairs, tables, cleaning bathrooms, re‑stocking toilet and paper towels, and mopping.
Maintain general cleanliness of the resident’s apartment.
Report safety issues in residents’ apartments and any incidents or errors to management, completing incident reports accurately.
Covers for receptionist as directed.
Answer call lights in a timely manner.
Maintain responsibility for pagers, keys, and radios, signing them in and out each shift.
Minimum Education Required
Completion of some high school or equivalent courses.
Minimum Experience Required
None, on-the-job training provided.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law
Active and unexpired CPR certification.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Familiarity and willingness to work with elderly population.
Previous elder care experience preferred.
