Position Production Laborer I
A production laborer will perform production work that includes assembling and disassembling parts, inspecting product for quality, and operating, tending, and cleaning the production area. The role reports to the Production Supervisor.
What you’ll do:
Assist with the production line
Load and unload parts from machine
Feed or place items onto equipment for processing
Pull damaged or non‑conforming parts off the line
Install and uninstall tooling from product
Cut and scrape waste material from parts
Label, clean, pack or strap and wrap finished goods
Remain in a stationary position during the shift
Perform Daily 5S in the production work area to prevent safety hazards
Work according to the daily production schedule
Take instruction from production line coordinator
Read and understand departmental metrics
Apply knowledge of basic hand power tools
Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
Continuously perform tasks safely, adhering to Atkore’s safety rules and procedures
Be flexible and willing to adapt to change, comfortable in a constantly changing environment
Assist in meeting performance goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Innovation
Attend monthly safety trainings, participate in daily safety briefings, and provide feedback to improve the safety program
Embrace and foster an environment that supports core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence
What you’ll bring:
One (1) year of production experience in a manufacturing setting
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and effective control standards
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Ability to interpret and execute standard works
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers / perform simple arithmetic
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced work environment
Familiarity with the 5S program
Ability to work independently and in a team when necessary
Good attendance and punctuality
Within 3 months, you’ll:
Complete the Atkore immersion program
Understand your team and role within the team and how it helps deliver Atkore’s strategy
Understand departmental standard work and Atkore policies and procedures
Understand department metrics
Load and unload parts onto machine
Cut/scrape waste material from product
Install/Uninstall tooling from product
Process and pack finished goods to next process
Within 6 months, you’ll:
Ensure parts conform to specifications by identifying nonconforming parts and pulling them off the line
Work efficiently as a team within the department to meet daily target goals
Detect problems and report information as necessary
Within 12 months, you’ll:
Ensure full adherence to 5S practices
Follow departmental standard work procedures, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental policies
