This is much more than a “dispatcher” role. The ability to plan ahead, think outside the box, prioritize, and schedule important resources (our skilled staff, specialized vehicles, warehouse/yard space and weather) are key skills needed to excel in this role.
As Dispatch Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Scheduling/Dispatching through collaboration with the entire yard team
Ensuring prompt and accurate transfers
Processing of transactions through inventory management software
Building and checking that loads going out for delivery are safe, secure, and correct
Maintaining a high level of customer service by assisting customers with material pick-ups and answering questions
Managing maintenance of delivery vehicles and Moffet
Working hand-in-hand with our Yard Operations Leader to ensure all customers receive assistance loading orders and guarantee that all vehicles leaving are load-checked
Confirming proper receipt of all materials
Keeping the yard clean and organized
Communicating with Purchasing Department on inventory-related concerns as they arise
Making certain that all OSHA and MDOT regulations are met and enforced for safety
To be successful in this role, you will be expected to consistently demonstrate the ability to:
Schedule deliveries that optimize loads addressing customer needs, accuracy and timeliness
Maintain a clear understanding of many moving parts and valuable resources
Make safety the highest priority – ALWAYS
Utilize critical thinking skills in establishing priorities and think several steps ahead
Be flexible and adapt to changing load schedules and operational business needs
Apply exceptional problem-solving skills in a wide variety of scenarios
