Position Overview The Lead Technician will install, terminate, and configure access control devices without direct supervision, oversee onsite tasking of field technicians and installers, and ensure project milestones set by Project Managers and Field Supervisors are met. Installations are performed in both new construction and retrofit scenarios across a variety of environments.
Responsibilities
Onsite tasking of resources to meet project milestones established by the Project Manager.
Install various access control devices and electrified door hardware.
Install and connect access control panels, power supplies, and control equipment.
Install and program various CCTV cameras (analog and IP).
Install and program NVRs and VMS platforms.
Install cable and pathway systems to support security systems.
Lead a team of field technicians and maintain installation deadlines.
Accountable for daily time entries of all crew members.
Maintain a high level of quality control and safety on the job site.
Perform end‑user training and participate in project commissioning and testing.
Enforce standards related to final documentation and attend trades meetings at construction sites as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification in at least two VMS systems.
Certification in at least two access control systems.
Minimum one year of experience in basic configuration of physical security systems.
Training and certificate from at least one camera manufacturer.
OSHA‑10 certificate.
Two years of experience as a Field Technician or equivalent.
Clear pre‑employment background check and drug test.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to lead and plan work days for an installation crew of two to four workers.
Proficiency in low‑voltage principles (Ohm’s law, load calculations, metering, etc.).
Effective communication with customer IT and Facilities staff.
Coordination with other trades.
Proficiency in installation, termination, and configuration of IP camera technology, controller hardware, power supplies, door hardware, and credential technologies.
Competency in the principles and concepts of physical security systems and ability to apply knowledge in the field.
Physical Demands This position requires physical activity typical of a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two‑thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, handling, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one‑third of the time may involve walking and verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment Travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
