Overview
Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (temporary, part‑time) faculty applicant pool for the automotive discipline. The position is for an Automotive Adjunct Instructor.
Responsibilities
Teach a variety of courses in Automotive Technology, with subjects ranging from ASE A1–A8.
Schedule may include daytime, afternoon, evening, online courses, and/or off‑campus sites.
Follow the curriculum of record to teach students real‑world skills and prepare them for passing ASE exams.
Instruct lecture and laboratory classes.
Demonstrate hands‑on live work to students.
Instruct students in the use of tools, equipment, and industry‑standard safety practices.
Evaluate student performance, record grades, and submit final grades.
Maintain professional and ethical standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
Minimum Qualifications
California Community College faculty minimum qualifications:
Any Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience , or
any Associate degree AND six years of professional experience , or equivalency.
College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree AND two years of related occupational experience.
College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate degree plus six years of occupational experience.
Eight years of experience in the automotive service occupation, with at least two years as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an automotive service shop.
Preferred/DESIRABLE Qualifications
ASE certifications from A1–A8 and G1; automotive manufacturer training; California BAR Smog certification.
Experience rebuilding manual or automatic transmissions.
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community‑college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).
