Position Overview The Department of Mathematics at Winston Salem State University seeks an Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses starting January 2025. The role includes teaching, mentoring students, and participating in departmental, community, and university service.
Core Responsibilities
Create a syllabus before first class.
Teach each class section.
Design and present course activities.
Grade assignments, provide timely feedback, and determine final course grade.
Hold office hours.
Meet with Program Coordinator and/or Department Head as needed.
Undertake additional duties related to the course(s) taught.
Qualifications and Requirements
Master's Degree with at least 18 credit hours in Mathematics from a 4‑year accredited university.
Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, mentoring, interdisciplinary teaching, and public service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse community.
Background check required.
Completion of electronic application with full work history and confirmation number required.
Preferred Credentials
Ph.D. in Mathematics from a 4‑year accredited institution.
Experience with technology in teaching Mathematics.
One to five years of college teaching at a culturally diverse liberal arts institution.
Evidence of successful teaching of college Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics or equivalent.
Participation in curriculum review, student advising, and department committee service.
