Primary Purpose of the Position The primary purpose of this position is to aid under‑represented populations in postsecondary education with college entry and matriculation through assistance with financial aid and college admission applications. This position will be located at NC Works and other locations throughout Robeson County, NC, four days a week and will report to Fayetteville State University Campus once a week. Selected candidates should have the ability to commute to and from both locations on a weekly basis.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree required. Prefer a degree in social sciences, counseling or related fields. A minimum of two years of advising, recruitment, counseling, coaching or tutoring experience. Two years of proven experience working with adult learners preferred.

Experience working with low‑income/potential first‑generation students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Communicate with the population being served by the program, as well as with college personnel and community agencies.

Must be strongly committed to working with low‑income individuals and should be familiar with the needs of the target population.

Ability to follow directions to implement evidence‑based program.

Excellent organizational skills to document services accurately and meet deadlines.

Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.

Interest in working with adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a college or university setting.

Knowledge of college admissions processes for low‑income or first‑generation students.

Experience with financial aid applications and counseling.
