Position Summary
This is a part‑time (up to 20 hours per week) position. The student will work in the Variety Testing program performing seed lab activities and sometimes field work. This position will report to Dr. Danial Mailhot, Program Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supporting seed lab activities including inventory, packaging, quality evaluations and ginning of cotton samples (60 % of time).
Supporting field activities including planting, data collection and harvest (30 % of time).
Cleaning of workspace and state vehicles (10 % of time).
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a University System of Georgia institution.
Good time‑management skills and the ability to remain productively engaged in work activities.
Physical Demands & Conditions
Driving required. Occasionally lift 30‑lb bags, sitting, standing, reaching, pulling, bending and walking. Tolerance of outdoor working conditions including sun, heat, humidity, insects and potential dust. Indoor exposures include dust and potential noise. Includes some exposure to peanut and wheat allergens.
Background Investigation Policy
Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including a criminal background check, credential and employment history verification and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check. A pre‑employment drug test may be required for positions with high‑risk responsibilities.
