Roofing Estimator – Entry Level Join GSM Services as a Commercial Roofing Estimator / Sales Trainee. This entry‑level role is designed for individuals beginning careers in construction, project estimating, or roofing systems.

About GSM Services GSM Services has been providing high‑quality home and commercial improvement services to the Greater Charlotte area since 1927. We offer services for residential and commercial properties, including heating and cooling, insulation, and roof repair and replacement.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing basic estimates and quantity take‑offs for re‑roof and new roof projects (low‑slope and steep‑slope systems).

Learn to review construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work.

Support senior estimators in developing labor and material calculations.

Help assemble material lists, pricing information, and project documents.

Participate in planning meetings and gather needed information.

Track project costs and compare them to estimates.

Learn fundamentals of commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, asphalt, architectural metal).

Support sales team with customer communication, proposal preparation, and project follow‑up.

Participate in job site visits to gather field information for estimates.

Build positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and vendors.

Represent GSM Services’ mission, vision, and values in all interactions.

Assist with data entry, document organization, and maintaining accurate records.

Support other tasks as needed during training and development.

Qualifications Education

Recent graduate of a Construction Management program, Engineering Technology, or related degree, or

Completed trade school in roofing, construction, carpentry, or a similar technical program.

Knowledge & Skills (Training Provided Where Needed)

Basic understanding of construction or roofing concepts.

Willingness to learn blueprint reading and take‑off software.

Strong mathematical skills related to measurements and basic calculations.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Proficiency with computers and basic programs (Excel, Word, etc.).

Interest in learning estimating, project planning, and roofing systems.
