Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble prototype axles for Customer and Test Requirements.
Reading blueprints of both axle components and assemblies
Inspecting quality of both axle components and assemblies
Recording Quality Data as part of the Axle Build Process.
Assembling axle carriers to achieve proper gear contact patterns
Assembling axle carriers to achieve proper gear backlash
Assembling wheel ends of various configurations
Disassembly, analysis and documentation of tested Axle assemblies.
Support and execution of 5S Objectives
Support and execution of Dana Operating System (DOS) Objectives
Active involvement in department improvement initiatives.
Perform other assigned duties incidental to the occupation.
Qualifications Desired
Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience
Must be able to lift 75 lbs regularly
Must have a valid driver’s license
Basic Computer Skills for data entry
Familiarity with drawing standards allowing for review and interpretation of blue prints and engineering specifications.
Prefer experience in the following areas
Assembling independent, beam, and banjo style axles.
Quality inspection procedures and tools
Gear contact patterns in axles
Gear backlash in axles
Axle assembly and axle component prints and specifications.
Assembly type gauges, i.e. height gauge, micrometers, calipers, Atlas Copco torque wrenches, air leak tester, bearing stack height gage, and other gage systems.
Digital camera electronic files
Overhead cranes, forklifts, welding and Painting
Perform other assigned duties incidental to the occupation.
Willing and able to work extra time when necessary
