Telephone Operator
W illamette Valley Cancer Institute seeks a temporary 6‑month Telephone Operator to join their administrative team at the Central Business Office in Eugene, OR. The role involves answering, directing, and triaging incoming calls to our clinic, requiring strong communication skills and experience with complex multi‑line phone systems. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and able to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment. While experience in a medical office is preferred, it is not required.
General pay scale: $18.00 – $27.18 per hour. Actual hiring rate depends on prior experience, education, responsibilities, location, work performance.

Responsibilities
Answer all incoming calls courteously and efficiently, connecting callers to the appropriate extension.
Accurately take and relay messages in a timely manner.
Respond promptly to emergency and urgent calls from patients, directing them to clinical staff as needed.
Handle operator functions, including triaging calls, transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on phone procedures, and reporting any telephone or equipment issues.
Offer a friendly and helpful phone experience for all callers.
Assist with clerical tasks as assigned to support departmental workflow.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least one year of office experience, preferably in a medical/clinical setting.
Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs, corrected vision and hearing.
Work Environment: Office environment with frequent contact with patients and the public.
