Position Title: GENERATOR TECHNICIAN
Location: MIDLAND, TX — 2 WEEKS ON, 1 WEEK OFF ROTATION or Local
FLSA Class: NON-EXEMPT
Responsible to: Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary:
The Generator Technician will diagnose and repair natural gas generators, verify and adjust breaker settings, and proactively inspect and recommend repairs to increase reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist and participate in routine inspections and modify natural gas generators and associated equipment.
Apply advanced knowledge of electrical distribution (cable, breakers, transformers, breaker relay settings).
Utilize measuring equipment (multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters) to diagnose and repair equipment.
Troubleshoot units to identify possible problems in engines or generators.
Modify electrical and mechanical wiring of generator control circuits.
Test and verify operation of batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil; adhere to safety guidelines.
Troubleshoot and diagnose power generation equipment, including generator controls AC and DC.
Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and clean and inspect assemblies.
Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
Apply failure analysis procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
Help train other technicians on troubleshooting and repairs.
Maintain a clean job site.
Read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics; maintain electronic records.
Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings; identify and repair engine control system problems.
Other Requirements
5+ years of relatable experience in power generation.
Experience with natural gas engines, preferably Mesa generators.
Ability to work travel rotation schedule.
High integrity and work ethic; self‑motivated and quick learner.
Attention to detail; excellent troubleshooting and technical skills.
Knowledge of electrical systems; excellent customer skills.
Basic computer skills; good written and oral communication.
Appropriate safety equipment and practices required.
Must lift 50 pounds.
