Specialty Imaging Technologist - CT Scan - PART-TIME

Position Summary: This part‑time opening involves performing diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of mammography, computed tomography, and special procedures. The technologist uses specialized equipment, techniques, and computer programs to conduct the work.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:

State of Nevada License in Radiology and a valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) registration in Radiography, plus National Certification in a specialty area such as Computed Tomography or Angiography. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Additional Position Requirements:

Valid State of Nevada License in Radiology.

Valid ARRT registration in Computed Tomography.

Previous 3 years of experience performing CT exams in a Trauma setting.

Experience with CT interventional exams on patients.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Procedures and protocols associated with area of assignment; specialized equipment used in area of assignment; radiography protocols and procedures; quality assurance and quality control measures; personal computers; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation; applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients properly to maximize results; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio‑economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment; stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods; vision to read printed materials and VDT screens; hearing and speech to communicate effectively in‑person and over the telephone; strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
