Key Responsibilities
Conducts pre and post trip inspections to determine the trucks condition and ensure that everything is in proper running order
Delivers shavings to turkey farms daily in a safe and efficient manner
Backs tractor trailer into turkey farms and loading areas
Maintains a good driving record
Assists other workers in the department by helping to load and unload trucks
Maintains ability to adjust to errors and complaints
Follows instructions daily
Maintains updated and legal CDL
Follows company policies
Uses and applies common sense to handle certain situations
Resolves problems which occur on turkey farms when supervision is not available
Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)
Class A Commercial Driver's License and at least one year experience
Requires specialized skills that are normally learned through combinations of directly relevant vocational training and job experience.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Valid North Carolina Class A CDL
Department of Transportation Certified Medical Certificate
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to operate a tractor-trailer truck in tight places with low visibility
Ability to make decisions on backing, turning, entering and exiting farms.
Ability to operate trucks on narrow, dimly-lighted roads
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions & Travel Requirements
Ability to work in hot and cold environments
Must be able to climb steps and trailers frequently
