Description of Work The primary purpose of the Grounds Worker I role is to maintain the grounds, flora, and all associated equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing campus environment at Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center. The Grounds Worker I will be responsible for routine landscaping, gardening, equipment operation, and general upkeep of outdoor areas, as well as removing snow, ice, leaves, and debris from the campus. This role will assist with other Maintenance areas as needed.

Qualifications Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 – $46,991.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) / Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Prior experience working in a grounds/landscaping environment.

Demonstrated experience using chainsaws, tractors and implements such as discs, plows, loaders, backhoe and buckets.

Demonstrated experience utilizing and maintaining ground equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors & spreaders.

This position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

About Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24‑hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Mission Statement We are a specialized long‑term care facility focusing on maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs whose level of support extends beyond what can be provided in family or community living settings. Supplemental Information DHHS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions. Minimum Education and Experience Education and experience in grounds work directly related, consistent with accepted practices, and equivalent to two years of experience in planting, cultivation, and care of shrubs, trees, plants, and grasses; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
