A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a part-time Preschool Special Education (SpEd) Paraeducator. This position is for 5.70 hours per day (or its weekly aggregate equivalent), 180 days (9 months) per year, and is compensated according to the Lane 4(B) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule.

Job Overview The Preschool Paraprofessional position was established for the purpose of assisting assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of general education and special education students; performing classroom clerical tasks; and assisting students by meeting special health care needs and developing students' daily living and behavioral skills.
Primary Duties Primary duties include, but are not limited to, engaging in the following activities with support and direction:
Collect data regularly regarding skills across developmental domains
Under the direction of the classroom teacher, instruct students regarding developing peer interactions and social skills
Adapt classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce lesson plans.
Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior
Administer assistance to medically fragile children
Implement positive behavior supports, behavior plans, and interventions as needed
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with preschool teams
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Remain flexible with changes in assignments and situations
Relate to students in a positive and confident manner
Organize work, problem solve, and select action plans
Attend to details and follow tasks through to completion
Monitor student behavior and make quick, effective decisions
Remain calm in crisis situations
Work independently with minimal supervision
Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
Regular work attendance is required
Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures
Participate in required district and school trainings
Qualifications BASIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for the purpose of diapering, performing transfers, transitions, and position changes
Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time
Must be able to move from sitting on floor to standing position repeatedly
Must be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience in a preschool or special education setting preferred
Preferred: 2 years of college, post secondary degree, or ParaPro Praxis (if Title I school)
