Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher to join our educational team. Lavender Hill is a family childcare home. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly in a preschool setting, and possess strong skills in behavior management and lesson planning. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports the developmental needs of all students. There is potential for a live in opportunity in the 4,000sqft home
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning styles of students.
Manage classroom behavior effectively, employing strategies to promote positive interactions among students.
Teach various subjects including math and physical education, ensuring that all curriculum standards are met.
Collaborate with other educators to develop and enhance curriculum development initiatives.
Provide support and guidance to students with behavioral health challenges or special educational needs.
Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.
Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education.
Requirements
Proven experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting, preferably preschool.
Strong skills in behavior management techniques to effectively address classroom dynamics.
Knowledge of behavioral health principles as they relate to children's education.
Experience in lesson planning and curriculum development tailored for young learners.
Ability to teach physical education activities that promote health and fitness among students.
Familiarity with special education practices, especially for students with developmental disabilities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.

Lavender Hill, a Waldorf inspired nature-based early childhood program nestled in the heart of Longmont, CO (just 15 min to Boulder). We are seeking a warm, experienced, and creative Lead Teacher to join our close-knit community for the 2026–27 school year. Summer camp is also an option June-August. Lavender Hill is a family childcare home and the school resides in the home. We are seeking a candidate who wishes to reside in the home. It is. 4,000 sq ft house with 4 bedrooms upstairs and available. The main floor is used for the school and the basement is rented out as well. Rent TBD based on how many are occupying the home.
For over six years, Lavender Hill has provided a nurturing, play-based environment where children thrive in rhythm, imagination, and connection with the natural world. Our program blends Waldorf and some Reggio Emilia approaches with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and respectful relationships. We partner with land stewards to bring children into living connection with the earth.
Position Overview The Lead Teacher will hold space for a mixed-age early childhood group in our morning program (ages 2–5), fostering a loving, developmentally appropriate, and consistent environment. This is a part-time, salaried position with on-site housing included.
Responsibilities
Guide a class of young children through a daily rhythm rooted in nature, play, storytelling, movement, and seasonal activities
Collaborate with assistant staff and directors to plan and implement curriculum
Communicate regularly and respectfully with families
Maintain a clean, beautiful, and safe indoor and outdoor learning environment
Participate in ongoing reflection and professional development
Ideal Candidates Will Have
A deep respect for young children and nature-based education
Experience with Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, or similar holistic pedagogies
At least 5 years of early childhood teaching experience
A strong sense of rhythm, creativity, and initiative
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
ECE credentials or willingness to pursue Colorado licensing requirements
