Job Summary JOB SUMMARY:
The Café Server enhances the guest experience by providing premiere guest service in a timely and friendly manner. The Café Server initiates conversations with guests, anticipates guests’ needs, and seeks opportunities to build relationships and create a memorable interaction. Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards.
Job Responsibilities
Efficiently and accurately takes and delivers beverage orders in a timely and friendly manner.
Handles cash and credit transactions associated with beverage sales, accurately and efficiently.
Provides appropriate change to guests.
Proactively seeks guest opportunities and anticipates guests’ needs to create “magical moments”.
Interacts with guests in a friendly manner while taking orders, to include up‑selling.
Maintains assigned areas by keeping them clean and free of debris throughout the shift.
Maintain knowledge and terminology of beer, wine, spirits, and non‑alcoholic beverages.
Be familiar with domestic and imported beers, different types of wine, brand name spirits and garnishments.
Working knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, and preparation of each drink.
Maintain product inventory and supplies including garnishes, glassware, ice, and miscellaneous service supplies throughout shift.
Ensure the service area is properly set up at the beginning of the shift and close the service area at the end of the shift in accordance with Company standards.
Ensure receipt of accurate payments, balance cash drawer during shift, and maintain security and accuracy of bank.
Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shifts and staff meetings.
Cocktail, bus, and service guests through the shift ensuring a visually appealing environment.
Consistently uses all beverage and bar equipment, cleaning, and sanitizing products in accordance with all SDS sheets and departmental standards.
Provide BIG Service to internal and external guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset.
Ensure that work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must pass all required pre‑screening and background checks.
Internal candidates must meet the eligibility requirements as provided in the Transfer and Promotion policy.
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including day, swing, late‑night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid New Hampshire gaming license.
Physical & Mental Demands and Working Conditions
Move in and around the work area throughout the entire workday.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Repeat the same movements.
Engage and interact with all guests appropriately and work well under pressure of a fast‑paced environment.
Communicate on a regular basis with all co‑workers, vendors, and guests both in person and over the telephone.
Answer all inquiries, provide assistance and information in a professional and accurate manner.
Access and interpret information on computer screens.
Bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, balance, and work at a bar; tolerate changes in temperature, frequent immersion of hands in water, cleaning, and sanitizing solutions.
Work in an environment where smoking is permitted, loud guest chatter, overhead music, and live entertainment are present.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and respond to visual and aural cues.
Complete and pass all alcohol awareness and training, obtain certificates, and all other food alcohol & food safety training as required by The Nash.
Operate point of sale, glasswasher, mixing utensils, liquor dispensing system, and other bar equipment.
Distinguish letters or symbols and have eye‑hand coordination.
