2nd Shift - Packager

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Slitter Operator, responsible for ensuring the correct skids, boxes and labels are ready for all orders and for correctly boxing, labeling and skidding rolls produced by the machine.
Duties / Responsibilities
Clock in upon arrival, punch into packaging and clock out when leaving GF property.
Have all packaging supplies ready for the scheduled order by consulting the sales order, operator or customer specification book.
Follow the operator for “kick out rolls/mill ends” and ensure rolls are marked and kept from dispatching to customers.
Once an order is produced and the skid is finished, move it to the wrapper using a hand jack. If the skid is not finished, move it with a pallet jack to the finishing warehouse.
Assist the operator with loading cores and splicing bulk rolls into the machine, if time permits.
Remain aware of surroundings and pay attention to details.
Required Skills / Abilities
Operate safely with a hot glue gun.
Operate an electric or manual hand jack.
Maintain machine running at standard production levels.
Good oral communication skills.
Self‑motivated and interested in learning other positions.
Work in a fast‑paced team environment.
Work well within a team atmosphere.
Excellent attendance.
Detail‑oriented and quality focused.
Work overtime when needed.
Maintain a clean work area.
Be safety conscious and perform duties properly and safely.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged standing and lifting.
Lift up to 60 pounds.
Traverse facility on uneven surfaces.
Work in hot and cold climates and tolerate various noises.
Safety Requirements
Wear PPE: safety glasses in production areas.
When using a hot glue gun, wear gloves and arm sleeves.
Wear appropriate work apparel; no hoodies, open‑toe shoes, or head/earphones.
Use proper lifting techniques.
Follow proper LOTO rules for mechanical issues.
When using chemicals, replace them in the original container and label the contents.
Ensure at least one person knows your location for emergencies (buddy system).
