Job Overview The Bulk Delivery driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating diesel-powered tractor‑trailers to transport and deliver products or materials in the packaged or palletized form to and from customer locations for local and regional distances following FMCSA regulations and company policies. This position unloads pallets loaded with the product within customer accounts, repositions empty and loaded trailers, and interacts with customers and the sales team while ensuring excellent service.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform assigned pre‑shift activities to ensure a productive shift; review work schedules, check equipment, and supplies required to perform the scheduled work, including load accuracy and operation preparation.
Conduct a daily pre‑trip, post‑trip, and in‑route safety inspection of truck and trailers to ensure safe operation of all equipment per FMCSA regulations.
Operate the tractor‑trailer safely and legally at all times following applicable laws and company policy. Complete required paperwork for freight, obtaining signatures and documentation verifying cargo pick‑up and delivery.
Plan and execute efficient, legal, and on‑time pick‑up and delivery using maps, GPS, and written or verbal instructions to meet scheduled door times. Record daily hours of service electronically per FMCSA, state, and company requirements. Load and secure cargo, maintain seal control as required.
Read and comprehend trip‑related information to plan effectively. Load and unload freight at customer locations using electric pallet jacks or other means, fostering relationships with team members and store personnel.
Perform post‑shift activities including coupling/uncoupling trucks from trailers, sliding tandems, operating loading gear, opening/closing cargo doors, and climbing safely on/off the vehicle. Refuel diesel, secure equipment, and complete all required paperwork.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must read, write, and communicate in English related to the position and FMCSA regulations.
Obtain and maintain a valid FMCSA physical certification, Interstate non‑exempt, within 60 days of entry.
Obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL with manual and automatic transmission valid for Interstate driving within 60 days of entry (timeline may vary by location).
Preferably have two (2) years of verifiable tractor‑trailer driving experience.
Sales experience preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Can use a pallet jack.
Capable of lowering/raising loading gear, opening/closing cargo doors, and climbing safely.
Can read and understand trip information and plan effectively.
Hand‑held device serves as a cell phone.
Willing to work varied shifts, including overnight and early morning.
Minimum Qualifications
1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license: excellent driving history – CDL required; Hazmat certification where necessary.
