Job Overview Join Blue Man Group Orlando as a full‑time Props Technician. The role covers maintenance and fabrication of show props, running shows, and providing support as assigned by the Head of Props.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the maintenance of all technical elements of the show under the jurisdiction of the Props Department, including props, equipment, and set pieces.
Assist in maintaining inventory of show consumables.
Attend meetings as required by management.
Support supplemental prop needs for rehearsals, appearances, and gigs.
Provide regular and consistent show coverage on the Props track.
Perform all duties outlined on run sheets during the running of the show (preset, show cues, turnover, and post‑show) in a safe, professional, timely and efficient manner.
Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of workspaces.
Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department.
Support gigs, training, rehearsals, and marketing events.
Participate in load‑in and load‑out and lend assistance to other departments as needed.
All other work‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Theatrical run crew experience.
Theatrical prop fabrication skills.
Theatrical carpentry and/or electrics skills are an asset.
Organizational skills.
Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show.
Adherence to OSHA regulations and participation in required health and safety courses.
Contribution to a safe and positive working environment at all times.
Assist other departments when necessary for cross‑departmental support.
At least 2 years of previous experience, or a similar environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or a similar field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken; ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset.
Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical ability to perform essential functions such as climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting (at least 50 lbs), and working with limited visibility.
Verification of the right to work in the United States (Form I‑9).
Compensation and Benefits This is a full‑time hourly position, eligible for overtime, and includes a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, and 401(k) plans.
