Position Summary
Under the supervision of the director, the Activity Director coordinates, executes, develops, and maintains a quality activity program, utilizing staff expertise and family and community resources.
Essential Functions
Interviews and assesses all patients prior to the initial patient care planning conference.
Includes patient assessment information into the medical record.
Regularly updates the assessment and plan.
Develops an activity plan with measurable objectives consistent with the patients’ care plans and physicians’ orders.
Documents patients’ progress on a timely basis.
Develops and organizes the activity calendar to meet state, federal and hospital expectations.
Maintains the attendance log.
Assists in the development of and maintains annual activities budget.
Completes quarterly status reports regarding budget, participation in activities and other pertinent information.
Evaluates the overall effectiveness of the patient activity program.
Modifies the program to meet patient needs and interests as necessary.
Communicates and interprets the activity program to prospective patients, families and community groups.
Maintains compliance with the local, state, federal, and hospital policies regarding activity programs.
Has the ability to cope with patients with altered levels of emotional and mental stability in a compassionate and professional manner.
Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.

Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
One year of experience in a health care facility as an Activity Director preferred.
Education
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills preferred.
Certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) or accredited certification required.
