Grapple Truck Material Handling Operator (100% Travel) - Railroad National Salvage & Service Corporation is a trusted industry leader in the dismantling of railroad tracks, the removal of railroad ties from right‑of‑ways and the demolition of bridges. National Salvage is searching for a

GRAPPLE TRUCK OPERATOR

who is results oriented and has a self‑motivated work ethic. They will be able to quickly resolve any safety issues that may arise on track, while maintaining both company and Railroad compliance regarding safety. Our next

GRAPPLE TRUCK OPERATOR

This position does require a CDL (Class A or B) and at least 2 years of experience.

Starting Pay - $28hr with 10 weeks Paid Time Off!

Job Classification

Daytime Hours

Monday – Saturday

Full Time (Hourly)

Regular Position (40 hours) – Overtime as needed

Essential Functions of the Job

Travel is required, 4 weeks out then 1 week at home.

Hauling railroad ties, scrap metal, scrap wood, and equipment

Physically able to secure loads: strapping, tarping and torquing

Able to work long hours, overtime, and possible weekends in all weather conditions

Filling out daily paperwork and working independently

Ability to use a smart phone, GPS, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD)

Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment.

Qualifications

Class A CDL required

MUST have at least 2 years tractor trailer experience

Friendly approach when working with customers

Good communication with dispatchers and office employees, written and verbal

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Completely and accurately fill out daily paperwork

Basic mechanical knowledge to make small repairs (change hydraulic hose, grease and lube, safety walk around inspection)

Follow all Safety Program, Policies and Procedures

Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, walk on uneven terrain, Lift 50 pounds, and Exposed to Loud Noises on Live Train Tracks. This is an Outdoor Position and you will be exposed to all weather elements.

Must be able to pass a pre‑offer drug test and will be subject to FRA random drug testing.
