Position Overview The Clinic Clerk is an entry-level position which will receive on-the-job training to perform tasks within one or more front office positions including patient registration clerk, eligibility screener, and medical records clerk.

Reports to: Associate Director of Healthcare Operations / Business Office Manager

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in front-office duties, including patient registration clerk, eligibility screener, medical records clerk, and telephone operator.

Must be able to travel to all NEVHC Health Centers as directed by the supervisor.

Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.

Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.

Sensitivity to different cultures represented among members and staff.

Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner, including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.

Ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision; self‑starter, reliable and dependable.

Demonstrated proficiency with the electronic health record database within three months of attending training session(s).

Fluency in English (speaks, reads, and writes).

Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translates, reads, and writes).

Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.

Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).

Schedule Monday‑Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm, including some evenings and Saturdays; 40 hours per week.
