Job Title: Health Information Management Technician (HIM Tech)

How you'll contribute The HIM Tech Specialist provides clerical support along with scanning duties in the functional areas of data compilation, quantitative analysis and verification of records, maintenance of files and correspondence in the HIM Department.
Essential Functions
Analyzes the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
Retrieves, logs, prints medical records as requested by physician offices, patients, other hospitals and other entities as needed.
Notify Director of any outstanding records, issues with equipment, processes or other job concerns.
Take on‑call rotation for retrieval of records, fax transfer records, pull power of attorney papers, etc.
Assists with other HIM daily functions.
Works closely with physicians and ensures they are set up to dictate into the system.
Trains physicians/APRNs to dictate and e‑sign dictation and orders
Ensures completion of records for joint commission standards.
Works the hold queue for the dictation system.
Works the hold queue for the dictation system.
Makes physicians aware of late dictations, updates and cut‑off dictation.
Data entry for still births.
Non‑Essential Functions
Review and comply with LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.
Reports to: Director of HIM
FLSA: Non‑exempt
Minimum Qualifications Education
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Must have basic computer literacy/skills, ability to scan, and strong organization skills.
