Cal State Fullerton currently provides residence hall and apartment‑style living for approximately 2,200 students that is safe, clean and very convenient. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as a Custodian. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, provide custodial duties in and around assigned buildings or portions thereof within the housing community.
Work with chemicals and safety equipment, cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains, restrooms, sinks, fixtures, toilets, urinals, showers, bathtubs and replenishing all supplies.
Clean dispensers, mirrors, tile, walls, doors, glass, whiteboards, windows/sills, blinds and drains.
Remove trash and debris to outside dumpsters; remove decorations and flyers.
Clean kitchens, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, offices, breakrooms, hallways, conference rooms, and stairs; dust and mop tile and clean all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Clean upholstery, furniture, desks, tables, chairs, cabinets, and counters; sweep, scrub floors, mop, scrub tile grout, wax, buff floors, strip tile, polish floors and concrete.
Vacuum, spot‑clean and clean carpets; power wash and remove graffiti, gum, cobwebs.
Perform minor maintenance and repairs, change lights, and clean equipment.
Complete special projects including event set‑up, moving furniture, laundry and linens.
Use a computer to complete work assignments, training and leave requests; perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
Ability to operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
Ability to use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two‑way radios for communication.
Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity, observe safety requirements, and adhere to safe work practices and methods.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
Position may require the ability to safely move up to 50 pounds and/or possession of a valid California driver’s license.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous commercial custodial experience in an educational environment.
Live scan required.
Extended periods of walking, bending, stooping and reaching overhead, kneeling, climbing ladder, pushing or pulling custodial cart; sweeping, pushing vacuum cleaner, exposure to chemicals, dust, etc.
Carry a Master key.
