R5159# Job Description**JOB SUMMARY:**Under general supervision, this position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in culinary arts and related practices. Ensures students gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge through classroom lectures and hands-on demonstrations. Maintains a safe and organized learning environment, manages classroom and resources, and supports student success through accurate recordkeeping and timely feedback.**SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Design and deliver engaging classroom lectures and develop syllabi.* Prepare and demonstrate effective food preparation techniques and culinary procedures.* Teach proper methods of food handling, preparation, and presentation in both classroom and lab settings.* Actively recruit and advise students to support successful enrollment.* Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, and submit grades promptly.* Ensure a safe, organized, and productive learning environment at all times.* Promptly report equipment malfunctions or damage to the appropriate personnel.* Provide ongoing guidance and support to students to foster a positive and enriching educational experience.* Oversee inventory and manage supplies, equipment, and materials for both the culinary classroom and lab.* Monitor and maintain lab tools and equipment to prevent loss and damage.* Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:*** High school diploma. Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred* Minimum five (5) years cooking/baking experience.* All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for Indian River State College/Florida Department of Education Verified training or classroom experience.* Possess Culinary/Servsafe certifications.* Demonstrate ability in food preparation and knowledge of safety and cooking techniques and equipment required.* Proficient computer skills including in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access. and PowerPoint.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty (20) pounds.

Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required.
