Position:
World Language Teacher- Latin Teacher Probationary (2026-2027 school year)
Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the building principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe, culturally responsive learning environment.
Compensation / Pay Range:
$43,500 (negotiable based on experience)

Schedule:
Full‑time – 10‑month (work‑student calendar) or 12‑month
Paid hours / day:
7 hour 40 minute day, including a duty‑free lunch of 35 minutes
Essential Functions:
Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
Promotes a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small-group instruction.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into effective learning experiences.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instruction to fit individual needs, including special needs students.
Instructs students in responsible citizenship and other mandated subject matters.
Engages in ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, and research.
Maintains accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities.
Encourages family involvement and maintains effective communication with students and caregivers.
Ensures student conduct aligns with school standards and district policies.
Coordinates with secondary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects and requisitions diverse and inclusive instructional materials, maintaining inventory records.
Supervises student activities outside the classroom, including transportation-related activities.
Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other administrators as directed by the superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiation for diverse learning styles.
Knowledge of school curriculum and related concepts.
Knowledge of data systems, data analysis, and action plan development.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
Ability to engage a diverse student and family population.
Proficiency with computer network systems and software applications.
Organizational and coordination skills.
Effective communication with students and caregivers.
Self‑evaluation and professional growth in cultural diversity.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Qualifications Profile:
Certification / License:
NYS Certification in Latin
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Desired experience working with a diverse student population.
Demands / Hazards:
Standard office and school building environments.
Equipment:
Standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephone.
Travel:
Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
